The role

The intention of Family Engagement Services is to offer a process by which family can come together with kin, close friends, and community members to support a child or youth requiring intervention services.  This practice offers a collaborative approach and it is intended to build on the strengths of the family system. 

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Human Services Field, with related experience
  • Experience working with Children’s Services and Collaborative Service Delivery beneficial
  • Experience working with families from diverse cultures
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities to work with people who have experienced trauma
  • Valid driver’s licence, reliable vehicle and liability insurance

  • Ability to establish clear boundaries and be sensitive to the individual needs of each family
  • Ability to problem solve with a non-confrontational approach
  • Reliable and flexible availability, including some evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitating intensive Family Searches to increase circles of support, locate potential placements and increase extended family and community involvement 
  • Working collaboratively with children, youth, families, agency staff, community, Children’s Services, Indigenous Communities and Bands
  • Contributing to the research and evaluation effort to understand and measure the effectiveness of circle process as a part of the overall service development 
  • Maintaining a focus on general wellbeing, with a focus on trauma and attachment
  • Assists the family in connecting to culture, community and ceremony

  • Training – comprehensive onboarding/orientation process which includes service specific training, and agency wide core training.
  • Feedback – a strong supervision model that provides regular formal and informal opportunities for feedback  
  • Performance coaching – formal and informal coaching regarding the development of personal and professional growth and development.

  • $44,096 to $56,827 annually
