The Family Centre, in partnership with the Neighborhood Empowerment Team (NET), offers Youth Capacity Builders who act as a resource and referral link between youth populations, community organizations targeting youth populations, the Edmonton Police Service and NET teams.  If you live in a NET Community, then you may have the opportunity to access this service.

NET provides a multi-disciplined approach to crime reduction and prevention in at-risk communities in Edmonton.  The Youth Capacity Builders work along side a Constable and a Community Capacity Builder.  Their vision is to create safe, vibrant, self-reliant communities.

Key Interventions:  (include but not limited to the following)

• Provide outreach to “at-risk” youth
• Facilitate youth-driven initiatives
• Collaborate with NET team members
• Establish therapeutic relationships with youth through the process of role modeling and mentoring
• Provide opportunities for healthy peer interaction
• Foster resiliency in youth to increase their capability to cope successfully in stressful, high risk and adverse situations
