Roots & Wings

The ROOTS & WINGS program is a collaborative project of The Family Centre and Big Sisters/Big Brothers Society. The program is designed for families who are committed to improving their lives and would benefit from in-home support.

Our workers support parents to build wholesome environments and positive interactions between themselves and their children. Through a variety of supportive techniques, we increase the probability that children will do well in their families, their communities, in school and in the future.

ROOTS & WINGS works in collaboration with Parkdale, Norwood and Abbott Schools to provide in-home support to families in these communities. Families supported increase the probability that their children will be more successful in school.

ROOTS & WINGS is a voluntary program available at no cost to families in the City of Edmonton.

We work with families to help them create the type of family they would like to have. We liaison other agencies in supporting the family. We teach advocacy skills so that the family is able to meet their own physical, spiritual, and psychological needs.
